Las Vegas has quite a few themed casinos, and quite a few of them look to bring the feel of another part of the world to the city. Texas Station does just that, bringing a Texas feel to the party, and although this isn’t the flashiest casino hotel in town by any means, they offer great value and a solid casino experience.

That’s exactly what the locals are looking for when they choose their gambling venues, ones that may not be that famous or popular with tourists but may be a great place to gamble at. These locals casinos are generally off the strip, and cater to neighborhoods more, like Texas Station with the people of North Las Vegas, where it is located.

It is owned by Station Casinos, which got its start in 1976 when it opened the Palace Station, considered to be the city’s first locals casino. One of the appeals of these casinos is their offering cheap food as well as a good casino, but this is the sort of thing that tourists like as well, so they do have accommodations for overnight guests as well as catering to the walk up traffic.

Station Casinos now operates 19 casinos, some of them very small, but some quite large, including Texas Station which opened in 1995 and boasts 123,000 square feet of gaming space, which is right up there with many bigger names in Las Vegas. There are only 200 rooms in its hotel, which gives you an idea of how much of their traffic is local, as there are casinos of a similar size that need several thousand hotel rooms to feed it.

Texas Station is actively involved in giving back to the community and runs many fund raising events to benefit the people of Las Vegas, and students at risk in particular.

The Amenities at Texas Station

The 200 rooms that Texas Station has may not be very impressive compared to the bigger hotels in town, and Las Vegas has some of the biggest hotels in the world, but it is a AAA three diamond hotel so they do offer some nice accommodations and at reasonable prices.

Rates here start at $59 a night, with packages available that provide even more value, for instance for $62.99 you can get a deluxe king room and 2 breakfast buffets. The two breakfast buffets are valued at $15 which you get for less than $4 more, and that also gives you an idea of how inexpensive the food is here.

While they claim that the décor is done up in Texas style, it’s quite subtle and definitely tasteful. These are far from rustic ranch style rooms that you might expect with a Texas theme, there are no steer horns on the wall, these are just plain nice rooms, comparable to a very good hotel, which this is.

The rooms are 360 square feet and come with extras such as both WiFi and high speed wired internet, blackout drapes, free local and long distance calling, climate control, a hair dryer and an iron and ironing board, Guests can select from a king or two queens, there are no suites here, but this is a hotel more for the people.

A lot of their hotel guests are actually from Las Vegas itself, who come here for their staycations, and they can stay wherever they want and are much more familiar with the hotels here than tourists are, so this says something about the place for sure.

The restaurants are very good for a hotel casino this size, and their award winning Austin’s Steakhouse has been rated one of the best steakhouses in not only the city but the country. Austin’s is also renowned for its great seafood. Austin’s is a big reason why a lot of people come here and may be their best attraction.

They also have an oyster bar, casual dining at the Grand Café, and what they claim is the best buffet in town. Readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal agree. It’s not just good, it’s also good and inexpensive, all you can eat for just $6.99 for breakfast, $7.99 for lunch, and $9.99 for dinner. No wonder so many locals come here to eat. Casino players with their Boarding Pass card get even better deals.

There are also 5 other places you can get food, including Fatburger, Slices Pizzeria, Baja Fresh, Panda Express, and Starbucks.

There’s also the Dallas Events Center which features some of the biggest concerts in Las Vegas. South Padre offers live entertainment every Friday and Saturday night. There are 4 other bars and lounges on site, as well as a 60 lane bowling alley, and a child care center. There are several meeting halls, as well as a wedding chapel.
